The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), with funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Opioid Response Network (ORN), launched a new initiative called Recovery Rising. DDAP will convene persons in recovery, family members, and other key stakeholders for conversations, regional meetings, and a statewide consensus-building event to increase understanding of person-centered, recovery support services. An Advisory Commission will then create a framework for change offering specific steps for implementation. The initiative aims to create a recovery environment that supports multiple pathways to improved health and personal wellness; diversity, equity, and inclusion; community acceptance; and personal autonomy and empowerment. A website for the initiative is currently under development and will be available in the near future.
